If you are asked for a code – SPC2023
Families are recommended to purchase a laptop via the Laptop Purchasing Portal. This provides many advantages including up to a 3 year warranty and an option for insurance. Please select the link above to access our Laptop Purchasing Portal.
BYOD
If a device is not purchased via the Laptop Purchasing Portal, the following requirements need to be met:
Windows Device
Minimum requirements:
Operating System – Windows 10 or Windows 11, Home or Pro (No Windows ‘S’, Windows ‘X’ or non-officially released versions of Windows)
- Screen size – 10” minimum
- Keyboard – physical keyboard (see note 3)
- Hard Drive – 128 GB Solid State (see note 2)
- RAM – 8 GB of RAM
- Wireless – AN or AC wireless (5GHz)
The wireless chip in the laptop should also not be a Realtek 8822 series wifi adaptor as we have had many issues with this specific one.
Recommended Requirements:

- Screen size – 11” or greater
- Keyboard – physical keyboard (see note 3)
- Hard Drive – 256 GB or greater Solid State (see note 2)
- Wireless – AN or AC wireless (5GHz)
- RAM – 8 GB or 16 GB of RAM
- Intel based ‘i’ series processor (i3, i5, i7) or AMD Ryzen 5 or 7
Apple Mac
Minimum requirements:
Apple Mac laptops are less supported by the College.

- RAM - 8 GB of RAM

Notes
- There is no requirement for students to purchase Microsoft Office as this will be provided by the College.
- Solid State hard drives are generally smaller in capacity but work much faster and are more reliable whilst using less battery power.
- Experience to date has shown that students struggle with the use and maintenance of Bluetooth keyboards. These are not recommended. Keyboards with a physical connection (USB or other) are more reliable and will provide your child with a better all-round experience.
- Student locker space is limited therefore a lightweight, portable device is recommended.
